I don't remember the clown... it's the M WORDS that bother me.
And other stuff in that video too.

Dir en grey is hard to get into as they are a visual shock band which means that sometimes their videos will be shocking, but Ain't Afraid to Die is gorgeous, Embryo, Glass Skin, Dozing Green has to be my favourite of theirs.
They are a band that can go from scaring you half to death to soothing you with a lovely ballad.
I'mvery happy that Apocalyptica seems to like them. I saw Mikko standing there watching them in Boston.
They taking getting used to, but they have so much PASSION and energy in their music I can't help but love the stuff.
Also, I don't hate any of their songs, which is very rare because even the best bands has at least one song you don't love as much as the others that makes you look like :cursing: because it's not your cup of tea and you'd never say it to a band because you don't want them to feel bad.

I really need to find out from the venue which band will be appearing first. If it's Dir En Grey, I am going to find out if there is someplace where I can wait them out without having to either watch them, or lose my seat. I do not do well with their type of ... presentation.

I'm going to take my ipod and listen to it while they're playing.

@jaylee-
Just went to Baltimore last night and Diru didn't do any graphic things on stage. I can say I thought their music was good but I didn't quite get the vocals... I was also rabidly awaiting Apo so I will have to give them another try to be fair to them. I just wanted them to get done to see Apo! But as someone else said the had a HUGE fanbase at the show. And once Diru was done, those fans moved back and let us Apo fans up in front. So I would suggest if the venue is a club/bar you find the closest barstool to where you wanna be and once Diru is done make a beeline for the front (if that's what you want).

Back on topic...I was wondering how this came together as well!!!

I'm not really that bothered by the visual aspects of the performance. I understand how some bands use a 'theatrical' touch to enhance the experience of their music, and I'm perfectly okay with that; it's nothing new, it's been done countless times before by amazing bands / artists:

Alice cooper had the most disturbing shows ever, but it served a purpose.
Gene Simmons spit blood during Kiss' shows.
Ozzy bit the heads out of bats.

I'm not easily disturbed by those things, I just didn't like the music. But I'll give them another chance, I'll go to youtube and listen to random songs, I might end up tolerating / liking them... Or I might keep my current opinion.

And I'd advice people who will ahve the chance of seeing them along with Apo to give the live act a chance, they might be good on stage, who knows?
So whatever makes you see, makes you believe
And forget about the premonition; you need to conceive
That the images they sell are illusion and dream
In other words, dishonesty.

Ozzy didn't bite that bat intentionally. Someone gave it to him and he thought it was fake. :cursing: Dude had to get several rabies shots.

Kyo used to scratch and cut himself on stage. I'm glad he doesn't do that. His pain seems rather real and not faked which is heartbreaking really. He has so much raw emotion.

But, yes, it's a challenge to get people into Dir en grey. The language barrier, their past visual style, the general RAWNESS of their music tends to make people want to run away, but their music is so POWERFUL. OOO I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Also the range, for guys who can make your walls bleed with their metal, they sure can make one hell of a ballad.

I just got to see Dir en Grey and Apocalyptica for the first time Thursday night and it was totally worth it. I had never really listened to Dir en Grey before, and though taken aback by some of the noises emitted by the small (but totally gorgeous) Japanese man, it was amazing to watch. The intensity they play with is amazing. They definitely gained a new fan. ^_^

As far as Apocalyptica is is concerned....there are no words to describe my utter lack of dignity for all the screaming and swooning I did. They rocked more then I could possibly describe with mere words. Loved every second of it.

I'm also very curious to know how this came about because when I first read the blog entry on Dir en grey's blog I thought I was seeing things and just went omg what no way. Might ask Apocalyptica themselves about this when I see them in London this coming Nov.

I just saw Diru for the first time in London last August and I do agree the rabid fanbase are notorious. The band are electrifying in a live environment. They're not my absolute fav Japanese band in the whole wide world but they do have some wicked tunes and I have huge respect for them even if yes their vids can be kind of weird (Agitated Screams of Maggots for example). Their music has evolved a lot since their early days. In the past it was actually slower and had less screaming or growling from Kyo. I do admit it took me a while to like them because my first impression was negative and that could have been down to listening to the wrong songs, but someone recommended other tracks and from there I started to understand some of the appeal.

Well, when you ask them, let me know the answer. Next time Apocalyptica comes to Boston I am so going to grab a Finn in a polite kind of way.

I am kicking myself for not getting meet and greet tix for when Apo was in Boston. I've decided to sell parts of soul if necessary to get them next time Apo comes around to Mass. :D

I'm quite unhappy, cause some of the forumers have been treated rudely by Dir En Grey fans, who also yelled on Apo and insulted P during one speech..

That sucks. Don't think we're all like that. Other than moving during a song because some guy voice mailed me and I needed him to take me home since we live in the same apartment complex and I didn't want to get stranded, I would never be rude to other bands. :cursing:

But yeah, some Dir en grey fans are jerks. BUT NOT ME. That's not even nice to do that. Arg. I HATE some Dir en grey fans. It's why I don't even go to some of the forums anymore because they'd be so rude. Whining about Diru not being visual anymore and in fighting. Jerks. Don't judge all of us by them, or Dir en grey either, who I am sure has nothing but the deepest respect for Apocalytica and lovely, adorable P who answers your posts. The sweetie.

He answered my thanks for a great show post on Apocalyptica's facebook.

Adorable fellow him. Also he likes opera, which is very cool. And he liked it too, my post. I hope he wasn't offended by my wondering off. Also I might have been blocking the view of a fellow in a wheelchair too.

I posted it on August 27th or 26th. It's probably still up there. I have a very obvious long name that no one can pronounce or spell right.

OK I'm trying to find the post, but it's very far. He's so funny. He even liked a post where some rude person said they sucked. Awww. Cuteness. 8o

Apo should so do 2 songs with him, a creepy one and a gentle one.

How about one song which is creepy AND gentle...

OOoo. Yeah! If anyone can do a creepy gentle song, it's KYO. Saku comes to mind. At least the way he ROARS the English parts and sings beautifully the Japanese parts. MMMMM. And Vinushka is a good mix of creepy gentle. Loove Vinushka.

Loooove Kyo.

But honestly, I think you push this too far! A song with Apo! Do I ask to a song with Gojira?
